Glass recycling set in South Fayette
A free household glass recycling collection is set from 7 a.m. to sundown daily May 1-6 in the South Fayette Township building back parking lot, 515 Millers Run Road.
The bin offers a contact-free drop-off service and provides a safe method of recycling glass while eliminating the need to interact with other individuals or touch shared surfaces. Please anticipate depositing your glass yourself, as staff and volunteers will not be present. The site is under video surveillance.

Green Tree Woman’s Civic Club event
The Green Tree Woman’s Civic Club will be holding a “Yay for May” outdoor scholarship fundraiser May 1 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Green Tree Pool parking lot, Poplar Street (outside of the fire hall).
Tickets are $17 and include a $15 food credit.
The fundraiser will also feature Vincent’s of Green Tree, Hunter’s Blue, Graeter’s food truck and Hoshi’s Hibachi food truck. Masks and social distancing are required.

Virtual Community Outlook
Join the South West Communities Chamber of Commerce as well as emcee Joe Verduci, vice president of banking at Brentwood Bank for the virtual annual municipal meeting Community Outlook 11 a.m. May 4.

Leaf collection
Curbside leaf collection will be held May 1 in South Fayette Township.
The night before pickup, place leaves and other yard waste at the curb in biodegradable paper bags no heavier than 25 pounds each. Yard waste may include leaves, hedge/tree/garden trimmings, brush, lawn edging and grass clippings.

Virtual 5K
Quantum Spirits will be holding its 14th annual virtual 5K run/walk through May 25. Participants will be able to choose their activity and route (or a suggested route). Registration is $25 and $10 for Carlynton students and children under 10 and younger. Registration can be done online or by mail.

Military, veteran banner program
Each year from Memorial Day to Veterans Day, South Fayette will display banners along roads to recognize its residents, past and present, who serve or have served in any branch of the U.S. military. In-Person Summer Playground Camp
Enjoy park playgrounds, crafts, sports, games and more at South Fayette Township’s nine-week Summer Playground Camp for children ages 5-12. The camp will be held from June 14-Aug. 13.
Masks and daily health screenings are required of all staff members and campers.
Campers can choose to attend half-day sessions, which are $10 per session, per child or full-day sessions, which are $20 per day.

A Day of Outdoor Play
Upper St. Clair families are encouraged to get out and enjoy the great outdoors on May 15.
• Upper St. Clair’s three-hole golf course will be free to play from 8 a.m. to dusk. Golfers must check-in at the Tennis & Golf Administration Building upon arrival.
• Take part in the “Drawing Tree” in the Municipal Park, next to the Upper St. Clair Library. Park patrons are encouraged to use provided materials to create a piece of artwork to leave on the tree.
• Stop by Boyce Mayview Park. Group exercise classes at the Community & Recreation Center will be free for all members and Upper St. Clair residents. Participants must reserve their spot in advance.

Summer Camp
Greentree Sportsplex allows all campers to sign up for every week or just a few days per week. No extra or hidden charges. Every week, campers will participate in fun, organized activities which will teach them skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship and respect. Multi-sport all-day camp runs June 14-Aug. 6 every Monday through Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Early drop-off begins at 8 a.m. and is included in the registration cost.

Mother’s Day flowers for sale
Make a $50 tax-deductible donation to the Green Tree Garden Club and receive a 4-inch miniature rose plant and acknowledgment card. Mail or drop off your donation at 10 W. Manilla Ave. Make sure to include your name, phone number, your mother’s name and whether the donation is in honor of or in remembrance of your mother.
Pickup for the miniature rose plants will be May 8 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Green Tree Fire Hall, 825 Poplar St.
