South Fayette Outdoor Yoga in the Park

There will be outdoor yoga for adults at Boys Home Park, 2121 Ridge Road every Monday through June 7 (excluding Memorial Day) from 7-8 p.m.

Enjoy traditional hatha yoga classes with asana (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation. Classes are designed for all ages and levels of flexibility.

Have a yoga mat, block or pillow, and strap or belt handy. Cost is $11 per class. Classes will move online in case of inclement weather. Masks are required.

Carlynton School District 50th anniversary celebration

Join the Carlynton class of 2021 on May 14 at 5 p.m. in the circle near the gym as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of Carlynton Junior-Senior High School with the opening of a sealed time capsule.

Movies in the park

South Fayette Township’s “Movies in the Park” summer series is set. Movies start at dusk (around 8:30 p.m.) at Fairview Park. Bring a blanket, chairs, bug spray and snacks.

Designated spaces for each household will ensure social distancing.

The movies being shown:

June 11: “The Croods: A New Age”

July 9: “Trolls World Tour”

Aug. 13: “Toy Story 4”

Plant sale

The Church of the Atonement, 618 Washington Ave., Carnegie, is having a perennial plant sale May 15 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. These plants come back year after year, so you only plant once and enjoy them for many years to come. Some varieties for sale are iris, Shasta daisy, hosta, Stella d’oro, columbine, creeping phlox, lungwort (shade plant), primrose and more.

CCDC spring planting event

The Carnegie Community Development Corporation will be holding a spring planting event on May 22 from 9 a.m. to noon. Help fill the business district flower boxes with beautiful spring flowers.

Virtual 5K

Carnegie Borough will be holding its 14th annual virtual 5K run/walk through May 25. Participants will be able to choose their activity and route (or a suggested route). Registration is $25 and $10 for Carlynton students and children under 10 and younger. Registration can be done online or by mail. The event is sponsored by Quantum Spirits and benefits the Carnegie Volunteer Fire and Rescue Bureau.
