Latest coronavirus numbers for Carnegie and surrounding communities

As coronavirus cases continue to surge in Allegheny County and across the country, the communities within the Signal Item coverage area have varying numbers of both positive cases and deaths.

As of Jan. 12, there have been 357 total cases of the novel coronavirus in the Borough of Carnegie since March, according to the latest information provided by an interactive Allegheny County covid-19 map. Two deaths have been reported, and 1,953 tests have been administered to Carnegie residents.

Since the pandemic began, Scott Township has had 921 cases (38 deaths), South Fayette has had 877 (37 deaths), Collier Township has had 428 (two deaths), Bridgeville has had 230 cases and two deaths, and Heidelberg has had just 43 cases and reported one death.

South Fayette’s case rate is the highest among the communities at 608 per 10,000 residents.
