New car wash proposed in South Fayette
An automatic drive-thru car wash is coming to South Fayette.
The township commissioners unanimously voted Wednesday to approve land development plans for ModWash at 3101 Washington Pike, which is close to Sheetz and Colussy Chevrolet.
Construction is expected to take place in late March or early April and be completed in October.
The site is about 1.8 acres in the township’s C-2 highway commercial district. The developer is Hutton ST 17 LLC, and the engineering firm working on the development is Morris Knowles & Associates.
Plans were posted online to the meeting agenda.
Documents show about 20 parking spaces and a vacuum station as well as the washing area.
Commissioners President Gwen Rodi said she welcomes ModWash, and that the commissioners are always looking to bring new businesses into town.
“We’re supportive of any business that wants to come to the township,” she said. “We’re pro-development. We’re business friendly. We go out and solicit people. We try to bring businesses here, and we’re up-and-coming.”
Township consulting engineer Don Housley of KU Resources said the planning commission recommended approval of the plans at its Jan. 28 meeting.
The developer is expected to build a sound wall by the dryers to help comply with the township’s noise regulations.
