A new Sheetz in Collier may open within days.

The township commissioners announced a ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for 10 a.m. Friday at 1297 Washington Pike.

A soft opening with family, friends and invited guests is expected to take place Thursday.

Sheetz Public Relations Manager Nick Ruffner said Monday night the official opening is set for Feb. 2.

“I know the store team is excited to welcome customers to this new location,” Ruffner said via email.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will feature staffers and local officials, but the event will not be open to the public due to covid restrictions, Ruffner said.

The store is a little more than 4,900 square feet. It features enhanced restaurant seating and amenities with the company’s newest store design.

However, indoor seating will be closed due to covid restrictions. Construction began in August.

Ruffner said between 30 to 35 people will be employed at the Collier location, and about a dozen motorists can fuel up there at once.

Township Manager Kyle Thauvette said the convenience store and gas station will be a welcomed addition to Collier.

“I think the township is very excited not only to have a Sheetz within the township boundaries, but also an opportunity to partner with a company like Sheetz,” he said. “They are great community partners. We think that even though the Sheetz is in an area designated for residential and business use, we’re confident they are going to be good neighbors to the people close to them.”
