Number of coronavirus cases varies in Signal Item communities

As coronavirus cases continue to surge in Allegheny County and across the country, the communities within the Signal Item coverage area have varying numbers of both positive cases and deaths.

As of Dec. 16, there have been 245 total cases of the novel coronavirus in the Borough of Carnegie since March, according to the latest information provided by an interactive Allegheny County covid-19 map. No deaths have been reported, and 1,598 tests have been administered to Carnegie residents.

Since the pandemic began, Scott Township has had 674 cases (34 deaths), South Fayette has had 666 (25 deaths), Collier Township has had 297 (one death), Bridgeville has had 160 cases and no deaths, and Heidelberg has had just 29 cases and reported no deaths.

South Fayette’s case rate is the highest among the communities at 462 per 10,000 residents.
