Allegheny County Police said body found in Scott was dumped there by people in car
Investigators on Monday found a sedan that they suspect was used to dump a body in Scott a day earlier, according to Allegheny County detectives.
Police responded shortly after 8:30 a.m. Sunday to Booth Way near Boden Avenue for a report of a man who’d been found dead. Investigators said the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, showed no obvious signs of trauma.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man Monday afternoon as Lavarr T. Carroll, 43. A cause of death has not been released.
The spot where Carroll was found is a mostly commercial area along Washington Avenue. Booth Way is adjacent to several restaurants, a business plaza and an auto shop.
Investigators said surveillance video from the area showed a dark-colored sedan stop at the scene around 4 a.m. Sunday. The video showed Carroll’s body being dragged from the sedan and left where he was found, police said.
On Monday afternoon, police said they found the sedan and they “are working to identify the occupants.”
Residents in the area told Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV the area is generally a quiet one.
“I saw the commotion and everything, so I circled the block and all the neighbors told me what had happened. We never make the news, so this is a tragedy, of course. But that doesn’t occur here,” said Azizi Obasefu.
