Roots Natural Kitchen’s new location in Scott opened in late July.

What was once Bruegger’s Bagels in Scott Township is now a new, fast-casual, healthy-food restaurant.

Roots Natural Kitchen opened at 1644 Cochran Road in late July. The Scott location has a drive-thru window; dining room; and delivery, catering and pickup options.

“Roots Natural Kitchen is a fast-casual, salads and grain bowl restaurant,” said Larissa Caballero, Roots’ director of advertising.

“Eating healthy and eating great should be one of the same. We want to make natural food accessible and make it easy to eat great and feel better.”

Roots was founded in Charlottesville, Va., in 2015. It opened its first Pittsburgh-area location on Forbes Avenue in Oakland in 2019. The Scott opening marks the company’s fourth Pittsburgh-area location.

“We’ve had so much success with our Roots Natural Kitchen locations in Pittsburgh, so we decided to expand,” Caballero said.

She said Roots also plans to open more locations in the Pittsburgh area soon.

The Cochran Road site is the only Roots location in Pittsburgh with a drive-thru, Caballero said.

“It hit our mission to make tasty, natural food convenient for everyone,” she said. “There’s nothing more convenient that a drive-thru.”

Roots Natural Kitchen is open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
