Kris Sabin is Collier’s new chief of police.
Sabin was sworn-in by District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet during a commissioners’ meeting Feb. 23.
Township Manager George Macino made the announcement Feb. 16.
“It’s a great move for Collier,” Macino said. “He’s an outstanding individual.”
Sabin was not immediately available for comment.
Sabin was raised in Ingram and graduated from Montour High School in 1991, according to the announcement. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Administration of Criminal Justice in 1996 and graduated from the Allegheny County Police Academy that same year.
He began his public safety career as a dispatcher with Robinson police before serving as a police officer in Oakdale’s police force.
In 1998, he was hired in Collier. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2019 and was named acting chief last year.
Sabin has served on the executive board of the Collier Township Police Association and, for the past 14 years, has been the co-chairman of the association’s community outreach fund, building relationships with local businesses and residents.
“Chief Sabin brings a strong commitment to community engagement, accessibility and public trust to his role,” the announcement said.
