Scott Township officals and its public works department have agreed to a new five-year contract.

The contract provides for pay increases of 3.75% after the first year, 3.5% each year from 2025 to 2027, and 3.25% in 2028.

Base wages will rise to $73,000 plus benefits.

Township commissioners signed off on the agreement during a meeting in March.

The agreement comes after almost seven months of negotiations and nearly three months of working without a contract.

It is for 15 employees, said township manager Denise Fitzgerald.

Officer hired

Commissioners hired William Gardner Jr. as a police officer.

His starting salary will be just over $87,400. He will serve a one-year period as a probationary officer.

The township’s police force is now fully staffed with 12 patrolmen, four sergeants, two detectives, one student resource officer and one traffic detail officer.
