Signal Item launches new website on MeSearch platform
Trib Total Media is dedicated to serving communities throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania by delivering the news that readers want and information they need in a format that best suits their lifestyles. Earlier this year, Trib Total Media launched a new website for the Signal Item, SignalItem.com.
SignalItem.com provides the news and information readers in the Bridgeville, Carnegie and surrounding communities have come to expect from the Signal Item — but it delivers more.
The team at Trib Total Media is committed to local journalism in print and is expanding the coverage of its communities. Rest assured that although the print version of the Signal Item took a hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is back and not going away.
SignalItem.com joins 30 other hyper-local MeSearch sites on our very own Neighborhood News Network.
MeSearch is the underlying technology that the Neighborhood News Network is using to power SignalItem.com. MeSearch Media Technologies, Ltd., is a Pittsburgh-based startup built on decades of search technology. The company was founded as a joint venture between 535Media and Crivella Technologies Ltd.
The MeSearch platform searches TribLIVE and other news sites, government and community websites, stories from users and advertisements to find the most interesting and relevant content. It adds to the experience by constantly learning about each individual user through his or her search and reading habits and uses that information to present the news and information in a way that users will find the most convenient.
MeSearch allows a site like SignalItem.com to draw content from many sources. The platform could put a story in front of a user that he or she didn’t even know they were looking for, Joe Lawrence, CEO of MeSearch, said.
Arthur Crivella, founder of Crivella Technologies, the Pittsburgh firm that developed the MeSearch technology, has described a website running MeSearch as not just a site but a personal experience.
As an added bonus, we’re inviting you to become contributors to the site.
School districts, churches, municipalities, nonprofits and community organizations can become trusted contributors and provide as much content as they like.
If you have photos, engagement announcements, weddings, birthdays or news to share, simply click the “Post Story” button at the top of the page and follow the instructions to become a Trusted Contributor or Community Contributor.
SignalItem.com was built with the reader in mind, but it is currently in a testing phase for appearance and functionality. In an effort to deliver the best reader experience, Trib Total Media is looking for feedback and suggestions for improving the look, feel and functionality of the website.
Please let us know what you like about the site, what you don’t, what you would like to see more of and what you feel is missing.
If you have any questions or wish to submit feedback, contact Katie Green, Neighborhood News Network editor, at 412-480-7895 or kgreen@triblive.com.
Remove the ads from your TribLIVE reading experience but still support the journalists who create the content with TribLIVE Ad-Free.
