The Pinnacle Pointe neighborhood in South Fayette Township got a bit more colorful on Aug. 30, when residents adorned their driveways with impressive chalk art designs.
“After five, six months of not being able to act normal, we all gathered as a community to create something together. It was so wonderful to see everyone’s driveway art,” said Selva Priya, who came up with the idea. “This gave an opportunity to feel the inclusiveness, an outlet to express themselves, especially in an unprecedented time like this.”
Residents walked around the neighborhood to check out all of their neighbors’ designs, and Nicole Harding, youth services librarian at South Fayette Township Library, judged and presented a trophy to the winning design by Rhahmita Chekka and Rhea Yadav.
“We also came up with a hashtag, #drivewaychalkart, to use in social media,” Priya said. “This way, anyone can initiate an event like this in their community, use this hashtag to post pictures and become a part of a bigger conversation.”
