South Fayette students were among those recently honored by Senator John Heinz History Center.
More than 350 students in grades six through 12 from around the region competed in this year’s National History Day competition.
This year’s theme was “Breaking Barriers in History,” in the categories of documentaries, exhibits, historical papers, performances and websites.
Winners were announced during a virtual awards ceremony.
Among the South Fayette winners were Alaa-Eddine Guetari, Preetam Jukalkar, Ricky Rajabala and Thomas Morneweck who took first for their junior group website, “WQED – A Leader in Community Supported Television.”
Prerna Chakkingal, Anjali Srinivasan, Alycia Stier and Sruthi Sudhir won second for their junior group exhibit, “Lena Horne.”
Olivia Renk, Zoe Poe, Madeline Berg and Kaylee Hendricks took third in the same category for “Katherine Johnson: Adding Equality to the Equation.”
