Student accolades: Olivia Cindrich, Aditi Srivastava and Kaleb Krebs
Student-Athlete recognition
Olivia Cindrich competed for the Flying Dutchmen during the Winter 2020-2021 sports season. Cindrich, a graduate of Carlynton Jr-Sr High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in exercise science at Lebanon Valley College.
Cindrich was a member of the women’s ice hockey team. She is also one of seven Lebanon Valley College ice hockey players to earn Middle Atlantic All-Conference awards for the 2020-21 season. Cindrich earned All-Middle Atlantic Conference First Team and Defensive Player of the Year.
Essay award
The Pennsylvania Society recently announced winners of its 15th Annual Benjamin Franklin Scholar Award. The Award, created in honor of one of our nation’s Founding Fathers, comes with $12,000 in total prize money for the three winners. The writing competition is open to Pennsylvania public high school juniors and received more than 110 submissions. Students submit an original essay of not more than 750 words discussing the modern-day relevance of a selected Franklin quote. This year’s quote was, “A great Empire, like a great cake, is most easily diminished at the edges.”
Third place was awarded to South Fayette High School’s Aditi Srivastava for “The Fight for Suffrage, Continued.”
Marge Cooke Prize
University of Mount Union students were acknowledged at the institution’s Senior Recognition and Honors Convocation, held virtually April 20.
Kaleb Krebs was awarded the Marge Cooke Prize at the 2021 Mount Union Honors Convocation.
Each year, the convocation honors graduating seniors and underclass students who have excelled academically, displayed excellent leadership skills and shown dedication to the University and community through outstanding community service initiatives.
