A Carnegie Mellon University student returning Monday morning to her off-campus Squirrel Hill home told police she found a stranger who had locked himself in her bedroom, naked from the waist down.

Pittsburgh police arrested Malki Miles, 38, of Munhall after a brief scuffle.

Miles was charged with burglary, resisting arrest, drug possession and open lewdness.

Police said they found Miles with two used crack pipes, suspected crack cocaine and a debit card in someone else’s name.

The student said she left her apartment in the 5800 block of Hobart Street around 8:30 a.m. for class, leaving her bedroom door unlocked, according to a criminal complaint.

Her three roommates were still at home, she told police.

But when she returned around 10 a.m., she found her bedroom door locked.

When the door opened, Miles was standing half-naked by her bed, the complaint said.

The student saw her window had been pushed in, with one pane pushed out of the frame and resting on her bed, the complaint said. Another pane remained in the window frame.

She called 911. Miles put his pants back on and left through the front door, according to the complaint.

Police found Miles on a walkway in front of the building and took him into custody.

Officers said they found the student’s purse, which had been inside the apartment, behind a mirror resting against a nearby property.

Miles was taken to the Allegheny County Jail to await a preliminary hearing. He was unable to post bail.
