A Carrick man pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter stemming from a 2019 crash in Pittsburgh’s Polish Hill neighborhood.

Lila Tiwari, 47, of Carrick, will be sentenced for manslaughter and four counts of reckless endangerment by Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Kevin G. Sasinoski on May 20.

According to the criminal complaint, Tiwari was driving a Honda SUV just before 10 p.m. on July 14, 2019, heading west on Bigelow Boulevard.

The SUV — which police said was traveling 65 to 71 mph — struck a Harley Davidson motorcycle being driven by Daniel Gallagher, who was turning onto Herron Avenue.

Gallagher was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger with him was critically injured and taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital.

Tiwari showed signs of impairment at the scene, the police said, but his blood alcohol concentration was 0.04%. — under the limit that prohibits driving.
