Chartiers Valley’s annual Homecoming Carnival could have qualified as hot fun in the summertime, to quote Sly Stone, but it took place a couple of weeks after the season’s end.

The Oct. 4 event took place outside of the high school in sunshine and warm temperatures, making for an ideal afternoon of fun, games and wishing the Colts football team success.

Indeed, the good vibes carried over to two nights later, with CV routing New Castle, 35-14, to even its WPIAL Class 4A conference record at that point. Ty Glover led the way by catching five passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns.

Members of the community were invited to join the festival, which featured numerous activities by school organizations to raise money for their various endeavors — in whatever weather Mother Nature has to offer.
