A construction worker fell Tuesday morning from the 26th to the 24th floor while working on the new First National Bank Tower in Uptown Pittsburgh.
First responders were called to the construction site along Washington Place at about 8:30 a.m.
The worker suffered a right leg fracture, shoulder and elbow injuries, and was experiencing abdominal pain, according to Pittsburgh police. He was conscious and alert when he was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital.
Rescue workers utilzed the crane on site to bring him down to safety.
According to Mark Pinchalk, assistant chief of Pittsburgh EMS, the crane was used because elevator access only goes to floor 17.

In a statement, lead contractor at the site PJ Dick said the person injured is an employee of Century Steel Erectors, a subcontractor.
“We are in close contact with his direct employer for ongoing updates, and we all wish him a speedy recovery,” the statement said. “The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is currently on the worksite to conduct a review. We are cooperating fully with their efforts.”
