Pittsburgh’s Frankie Pace Park.

A couple said they were stabbed by a man who demanded money from them in a Downtown Pittsburgh park Sunday night, according to police.

Officers went to Bigelow Square at Chatham Street for the reported stabbing just before 8 p.m.

A man and a woman told officers they were in the adjacent Frankie Pace Park, over I-579, when a man approached them demanding money. When the couple refused, the man stabbed them, police said.

The man suffered wounds to his chin and leg while the woman had a superficial wound to an arm, police said. They were taken to a hospital in stable condition.

The suspect, whose name was not released, was detained at the scene, police said. He suffered wounds to a leg and was taken to a hospital, also in stable condition.

Charges are forthcoming, police said.
