State police Kittanning barracks are investigating two crashes along Route 28 that ended with two people being sent to hospitals.
Allegheny County dispatchers said the first wreck occurred around 3:50 p.m. Friday in the northbound lanes at the Sharpsburg/O’Hara Township line.
Dispatchers confirmed one person was transported from the scene. Fire and ambulance service cleared the area around 4:20 p.m.
State police were still on scene around 5 p.m. Traffic was slowly moving around the site.
The second crash involved two vehicles and occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes above the Lexington Avenue ramp, Aspinwall fire Chief Gene Marsico said.
A woman was transported after complaining of neck pain, the chief reported.
Emergency responders began clearing that scene shortly before 6:30 p.m.
No further information about either crash was available.
