Fire crews battle a blaze that spread to a second building on Wednesday on West Street in Homestead.

Fire crews spent hours on the scene of a three-alarm fire on West Street in Homestead after the blaze broke out Wednesday evening.

A three-story structure was reportedly engulfed in fire, according to an Allegheny County 911 supervisor. The initial call came in at 6:30 p.m. for a building on the 900 block of West Street.

The call was elevated first to two alarms, then to three as reports came in that the fire was beginning to spread to a nearby building, emergency officials said.

A Facebook user posted video of fire crews tamping down fire at one of the houses, while the other was fully involved.

Crews cleared the scene around 12:40 a.m., according to county 911 officials.

Police at the scene told Tribune-Review news partner WPXI that both houses were vacant. The station reported the fire marshal is investigating the possibility of foul play.
