Cyclist struck by vehicle in Shadyside

A cyclist was in serious condition after being struck by a vehicle late Tuesday in Shadyside, police said.

Officers responded at about 10:25 p.m. after a female cyclist was hit at the intersection of Morewood and Ellsworth avenues.

The woman was not identified.

Public Safety Spokeswoman Cara Cruz said the victim was taken to the hospital with a possible head injury.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and police are investigating.

Just about two weeks ago, a girl on a bike was hit by a car in Pittsburgh’s Sheraden section. She was in stable condition after the incident.

On Aug. 10, a 20-year-old bicyclist suffered multiple facial fractures, a broken jaw and a broken arm after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Bell Township.
