Death of Pittsburgh man who went missing, whose body was found in river, ruled homicide
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the death of a man who was reported missing Sept. 5 and whose body was later found in the Ohio River near the Rivers Casino was a homicide.
Stephen Williams, 42, was last seen leaving the Downtown Wyndham at 11:15 p.m. Sept 5. He was then reportedly spotted shortly after midnight on Strawberry Way by the U.S. Steel Building.
The medical examiner’s office reported that Williams’ body was in the river Tuesday morning.
The medical examiner’s office said Williams had drowned. Officials determined his death to be a homicide.
A Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesperson previously said someone found Williams’ cell phone on the ground in Point State Park near the Wyndham late Friday night, but detectives had unable to make contact with the homeless person who located it.
