Democratic challenger defeats Shaler Commissioner Mizgorski in Ward 2
The only incumbent Shaler commissioner in a contested race for reelection was defeated Tuesday, according to unofficial Allegheny County election results.
With all precincts reporting, Democrat Josh Fleitman defeated Ward 2 Commissioner David Mizgorski.
Fleitman, who has lived in Shaler for going on five years, is a district press secretary for U.S. Rep. Chris Deluzio and the Shaler Democratic Committee’s community service chair. Mizgorski, a lifelong Shaler resident and a Republican, is a Marine Corps veteran.
“Our vision for the next generation of leadership in Shaler Township won the day,” Fleitman said. “To all our volunteers and supporters in this campaign: Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m honored to have earned Ward 2 voters’ confidence. I plan to uphold that trust, work hard, and serve Shaler Township with integrity in office.
“Tonight, we celebrate. Tomorrow, we get back to work to build an even better Shaler together.”
Two other incumbent commissioners were unopposed for reelection. Conrad Wagner in Ward 4 and James M. Boyle in Ward 6 had each received both party nominations.
