A McKeesport man suspected of shooting a woman in McKeesport on Saturday has been jailed after turning himself into authorities on Tuesday, Allegheny County Police said.

The suspect, Deandre Hawkins, 28, is accused of shooting the woman in the arm and wrist at about 4:15 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Viola Avenue and South Fifth Street, police said. She was treated at an area hospital.

Hawkins was taken into custody without incident and placed in the Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh.

Hawkins is charged with two counts each of aggravated assault and simple assault, and one count each of strangulation, and recklessly endangering another person. A preliminary court hearing before District Judge Richard D. Olasz Jr. has yet to be scheduled.
