The exit to Route 8 north from Route 28 south near Etna will close early Monday morning for more than three weeks, PennDOT announced.

The ramp is expected to close around 6 a.m. Monday and remain closed around the clock through July 31 while crews reconstruct the exit ramp.

The official detour tells drivers to stay on Route 28 south, exit at Millvale and reenter Route 28 going north.

Step by step:

• Take Route 28 south to Millvale, exit 3B

• Continue straight onto East Ohio Street

• Take quick left onto ramp for Route 28 north

• From Route 28 north, take the left-hand exit, 5B, to Route 8 north.

The work is part of a $9.14 million project in Pittsburgh, Etna and Shaler that started in August 2024. It is expected to end late this year.

Drivers can check conditions on major roadways online at 511pa.com. The site provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to traffic cameras.
