FBI Pittsburgh offering $5,000 for information on stolen service weapon
The FBI’s Pittsburgh office is offering a reward for the return of a gun stolen from an agent’s vehicle Tuesday in Schenley Park.
The reward, worth up to $5,000, is for information leading to the recovery of the Glock 19M 9mm, officials said.
The FBI vehicle itself was stolen from the park about 1:30 p.m., said Catherine Policicchio, a spokeswoman for the FBI’s Pittsburgh branch.
The unmarked vehicle was later recovered in the Hill District near Whylie Avenue and Hollace Street, according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV.
The gun remains missing.
Working with the Pittsburgh police, the bureau is “devoting significant resources” to finding the firearm and getting it back from “the untrained individual(s) who may have it,” officials said.
Authorities did not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding the vehicle theft.
