All the occupants of a home in Kennedy were able to escape after a fire broke in their condominium early Monday.

The fire was reported shortly after 4:30 a.m. along Castle View Drive.

The fire was elevated to two alarms to summon more firefighters to the scene after first responders reported a resident may have been trapped in the burning building.

Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames but were able to determine that all the occupants in the building had escaped safely.

Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV reported that a couple lived in the condo where the fire broke out and escaped with their dog. They were still searching for their cat, the TV station said.

A third alarm was sounded after the fire spread to the roof of the building, according to emergency dispatchers.
