A century-old building at 9101 Perry Highway in McCandless is to be transformed into McCandless Pointe

Firefighters will do a controlled burn of the century-old building at 9101 Perry Highway in McCandless from 7 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 30, according to site owner Ron Sofranko, developer and owner of RPS Hospitality Group, LLC.

The burn will help open the way for redevelopment of the site into McCandless Point, a mix-use facility being developed by Sofranko.

Local volunteer fire departments in McCandless will conduct the burn with final demolition of the building set for Dec. 13-14.
