Fireworks cause multiple fires in Allegheny County

Fourth of July revelry caused at least four fires across Allegheny County, authorities said.

Crews were called to the 100 block of Park Ridge Place in Forest Hills for a duplex fire Friday. Multiple units were damaged, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.

A second fire, in the the 7500 block of Ellesmere Avenue in Swissvale, saw heavy smoke and flames. The Penn Hills No. 7 Volunteer Fire Company posted to Facebook that crews were called at about 11 p.m. to Swissvale and remained for two hours to battle the fire. One firefighter hurt their leg.

Their condition was not made available.

A third fire was reported inside a home in the 2500 block of Cleveland Street in McKeesport and a fourth at a home in Kennedy Township, where one firefighter was taken to the hospital for a non-fire-related issue.

The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating the fires.
