Alta Via, part of the Big Burrito Restaurant Group, reopened Oct. 6
Located in Fox Chapel Plaza in O’Hara Township, the upscale Italian-influenced eatery closed in June as pandemic restrictions tightened, along with Big Burrito’s five other specialty restaurants: Casbah, Eleven, Kaya, Soba and Umi. Those five have all reopened on different schedules.
Alta Via is Big Burrito’s only specialty restaurant outside of Pittsburgh city limits. Big Burrito also operates the Mad Mex chain, whose venues have stayed open throughout the pandemic.
“We are very happy to have all locations open and operating,” said Bill Fuller, president and corporate chef of the company. “We look forward to safely hosting our guests and offering a little bit of almost-normal.”
The modified operating hours are 4 to 9 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. Following state orders, the restaurant will be limited to 50% capacity.
Alta Via opened in April 2019. It specializes in modern Italian fare, inspired by the famous footpath — Alta Via — that runs through the Dolomite mountain region in Italy.
Fuller described the food prepared by Executive Chef Ben Sloan and his team at Alta Via as “simple, clean and fresh and ingredient driven.”
Entrees range from $13-$52. The handmade pastas are made in-house daily.
