Aspinwall announces Memorial Day activities
Aspinwall will commemorate Memorial Day 2023 with a service and parade on Monday, May 29.
A flyover will take place at 11 a.m. followed by speeches on Luke & Mike’s Front Porch. There will be color guard and a 21 gun salute.
William Jackovac, former commander of American Legion Post 77 in Aspinwall, will honor three veterans — Robert B. Bursey, Dennis L. Chamboredon and Edward J. Ziegler — who have been members of Post 77 for 50 years
The parade will begin at the conclusion of the services.
Parade will follow its original route starting on Commercial Avenue. It will proceed onto Eastern Avenue, then to Second Street; Second Street to Virginia Avenue; Virginia Avenue to Fourth Street; Fourth Street to Western Avenue; Western to Second Street and then down Center Avenue and back to Commercial Avenue.
In keeping with Aspinwall tradition, children are invited to follow the parade on their bicycles.
