The weather forecast looked grim for the opening day of the third season of Aspinwall Tee Ball on June 14, but the raindrops subsided about halfway through the day and all the games were able to be played as scheduled.

The fun started at 8:45 a.m. on Ben Killian Field with Aspinwall Councilman Lou Curcio placing the “first pitch” ball on the tee as Team Barone played Team Jannetta. At 9 a.m., over on the big field, Aspinwall’s Deputy Chief Michael Vith placed the “first pitch” ball on tee for the battle between Team Santelli and Team Dancy.

There were visits from 93.7 The Fan, Pittsburgh Pirates Pierogies Cheese Chester and Oliver Onion. Throughout the day, the concession stand volunteers whipped up hot dogs, walking tacos, soft pretzels, nachos and more.

The games take place every Saturday through Aug. 16. The community is invited to attend.
