Results of an Aspinwall survey related to Freeport Road transit are expected to be revealed in August, officials announced.

Residents were invited earlier this year to complete a questionnaire about biking, walking and driving along the busy stretch of Freeport Road that cuts through the borough’s business district.

Council hired TranSystem to conduct a safety study which targets the public’s use of Freeport Road and concerns that people have.

Surveys were completed in March.

“TranSystem is finalizing the report and should be presenting it at a public meeting in August,” borough Manager Melissa Lang said.

The study is meant to look at the current biker/walker access and ways to improve it.

Transit routes and bus stops are being considered, as are links to future phases of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail.

Lang said borough officials were hoping to collect opinions from people of all ages in an effort to provide improvements for an array of active lifestyles.

“The borough is interested in what the residents want before we start investigating possibilities,” she said.

The borough in 2018 received a $12,750 grant from Allegheny County, made available through the Redevelopment Authority, to study the Freeport Road corridor that stretches from Blawnox to Sharpsburg.
