Cooper-Siegel Community Library in Fox Chapel to host comedy fundraiser
People could use a little more love and laughter with the way things are going on in the world.
Officials at Cooper-Siegel Community Library in Fox Chapel think so, which why it is hosting a stand up comedy fundraiser Feb. 12.
John Evans of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” headlines the event. Tracie Jayne of “The Wolf of Wall Street” is also on the ticket.
Admission is $65 and includes two drinks and appetizers. Proceeds benefit the library and Sharpsburg Community Library.
Teresa Gaspard, Cooper-Siegel development coordinator, said she believes the community will support the library at the event.
“It’s different for Valentine’s weekend. Go out and have a good time, and it’s for a good cause, too. People in our community like to put their money to good causes, and this is definitely is a good one,” she said.
The show takes place in the Verne Kock Program Room in the lower level of the Cooper-Siegel library, and seating is limited to 75 people due to covid protocols.
A bar will be in the lobby. Guests are asked to wear masks when not eating or drinking.
Comedians are provided by Slapstick Productions.
Other activities include 50/50 and basket raffles. Organizers do not have a fundraising goal.
“Because this is our first one of the year, and it’s a new one and with covid we’re going to be happy with anything.” Gaspard said. “(We’re) looking at it as community engagement.”
The pandemic has caused both Cooper-Siegel and the Sharpsburg library to pause some of their in-person programs and offer others in a hybrid virtual model.
“Covid really showed us how much people need and appreciate the variety of programming that we offer,” said Gaspard. “I know a lot of people think the library’s children’s story time. We offer so much more for people of all ages of all interests.”
Tickets to the event and more information about library programs is available at coopersiegelcommunitylibrary.org.
