Dorseyville Middle School eighth-graders Ané Giguere and Alyssa Poole were selected to perform with the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 1 Junior High Chorus.
The chorus featured 155 students from 58 schools from Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland counties. The festival was held at North Hills Middle School April 14 and 15 and culminated with a concert.
The festival’s guest conductor was Shawn Funk, a retired Fox Chapel Area elementary music teacher. He is the artistic director and Bel Canto Singers conductor with the Pittsburgh Youth Chorus.
Ané and Alyssa are three-year Dorseyville Middle School Choir “Legacy Members” and are section leaders.

Members of the Fox Chapel Area High School Fishing Club partnered with the Allison Park Sportsmen’s Club and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission to stock trout in the Pine Creek Watershed on March 14.
Club members juniors Cian Conry, Jack Lynch, and Micah Shelley worked with Fox Chapel Area High School counselor John Baxter, social studies teachers Scott Karavlan and Eric Norberg, and math teacher Chad Morley, who are all members of the Allison Park Sportsmen’s Club, to coordinate the restocking effort.
The students and Fox Chapel Area High School staff members placed trout in the stream from the Glenshaw Fish and Boat Commission stream access area to the Hampton Fire Hall in Allison Park.
