Senior citizens in the Fox Chapel Area School District can get a sneak peek at the high school’s upcoming spring musical during a free dress rehearsal of “Les Misérables School Edition.”

Students will perform the show at 3:45 p.m. March 12 in the auditorium.

Refreshments will be served prior to the performance at 3 p.m.

“Les Misérables” recounts the struggle of poverty, justice and adversity in 19th century France.

Director Ben Murray said he chose “Les Mis” in part because of the memorable musical score that tells the story of passionate and dynamic young people standing up for what they believe.

“What better way to teach students the themes of hope, love and overcoming adversity than through this powerful story?” Murray said.

More than 150 students are participating in the production.

“They are working incredibly hard to tackle the mature themes and demanding elements of this production, and the audience will be overwhelmed by their emotional maturity,” he said.

“Les Misérables” is one of the longest running musicals in Broadway history.

The special senior citizens performance is for residents 60 and older.
