Fox Chapel Area student a finalist in 'Junk Kouture' contest

Fox Chapel Area High School senior Marley Pistella models the outfit she designed and created from used jeans and other found fabrics. She is a finalist in the New York City final of the Junk Kouture contest, which challenges students aged 13-18 to create high-end couture from 100% recycled materials. The New York final will be streamed on YouTube on May 9.

Fox Chapel Area High School senior Marley Pistella is one of 30 U.S. finalists in the Junk Kouture contest, that challenges students aged 13-18 to design, upcycle and create high-end couture from 100% recycled materials.

Marley created a high fashion couture outfit titled, “In Bloom,” from used jeans and other found fabrics.

Only two students from Pennsylvania were named among the 30 finalists from the U.S.

Marley now moves on to the New York City Final that will be streamed on YouTube May 9. Other city finals will be held in Abu Dhabi, Dublin, London, Milan, New York, and Paris. Top ten designs from each city final will advance to the Junk Kouture World Final.
