She is being presented the Joan of Arc medallion by the Most Rev. Bishop David Zubik of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh.

The plow painted by nine Fox Chapel Area High School students has been named the winner of the Judges’ Pick award in the Pittsburgh region of PennDOT’s Paint the Plow contest. Its design was created by junior Caroline Grimsley. The other students who worked on the project were juniors Ava deBruyn, Raina Guzman, Nora Kelley, Shayna McDermott, Mira Owens and Emilia Sutkowski and sophomores Emily Kiro and Lillian Salva. The project was overseen by Fox Chapel Area High School art teacher Joan Marangoni.

The winner of the Judges’ Pick award was determined through voting by PennDOT representatives. The students competed against schools from across the Pittsburgh region, which includes Allegheny, Beaver, and Lawrence counties.

Fox Chapel Area graduates Scott Lewis, class of 1992, and Steve Leas, class of 2001, will be driving the PennDOT truck featuring students’ handiwork. Their route runs on Route 28 between the 31st Street Bridge and RIDC Park in O’Hara, and on all the ramps in between.

• Joshua Correnti and Colin Lazzara were named to the dean’s list at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for the fall 2024 semester.

These 15 seniors from the Herald coverage area were presented with the Joan of Arc medallion by the Most Rev. Bishop David Zubik of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh on Nov. 29 during the 61st annual Medallion Ball at the Pittsburgh Wyndham Grand Hotel in Downtown Pittsburgh.

The students and their schools are Ainsley Anderson (Fox Chapel), Claire Auffenberg (Fox Chapel), Ridglee Boychuk (Fox Chapel), Emma Callahan (Our Lady of the Sacred Heart), Ava Condron (Fox Chapel), Anne Dolan (Aquinas Academy), Claire Feczko (Fox Chapel), Brooke Fenton (Fox Chapel), Antonella Folino (Oakland Catholic), Domenica Folino (Oakland Catholic), Ava Persichetti (Fox Chapel), Maria Stiger (Fox Chapel), Bella Urso (Fox Chapel), Sarah Voigt (Shady Side Academy) and Colette Walter (Fox Chapel).

St. Lucy’s Auxiliary to the Blind honored in total 78 young women for their commitment to volunteer service of 13,000 total hours. In 1964 the members began honoring young women at the Medallion Ball.

• John Tramontina made the president’s list at Miami University for the fall 2024 semester. Colin Westerberg, Eli Yofan and Sophia Oehrle made the dean’s.

The following students from the area made the dean’s list at Slippery Rock University for the fall 2024 semester: Alyssa Berardi, Mackenzie Borkovich, Jennifer Butler, Colby Helbling, Roman Liberati, Sofia Liberto, Christopher Mitchell, Robert Quillen, Cody Scarantine, Jillian Stahl, Ciara Tivo and Ronald Walkowski.

The following students from the area made the dean’s list at Pennsylvania Western University for the fall 2024 semester:

California campus: Lilly Iadicicco, Molly McNaughton, Jessica McCann

Clarion Campus: Aniya Peterson, Jacob Patterson

Edinboro Campus: Allie Watters Jacob Stahl

• Gabrielle Kline and Ellie Nawrocki made the dean’s list at Belmont University for the fall 2024 semester.
