Fox Chapel area student achievements for the week of Jan. 28, 2025
Avery Bursick, who is pursuing a doctorate in physical therapy, and John Paul Henry, who is pursuing a bachelor of arts in public relations, made the dean’s list at Marquette University for the fall 2024 semester.
Akhil Muvvala, a seventh grade student at Doresyville Middle School, is part of the kids’ robotics team Band of Steel, which placed first in the First Lego League’s Southwest Pennsylvania championships. They will represent Pittsburgh in the State Championships in Hershey, Pa.
Ariya Tayal was named to the dean’s list at Bates College for the fall 2024 semester. Tayal is majoring in neuroscience and minoring in Chinese.
Six Dorseyville Middle School students placed in the Allegheny Intermediate Unit CalcuSolve tournament, which took place in December. A team of DMS students placed first: eighth-graders Rishabh Krishnamurthy and Linden Trac, and seventh-graders Shengfeng Fei and Brian Xu. In the individual portion of the contest, all four of these students also won first-place awards by earning perfect scores of 35. Additionally, DMS eighth-graders Delaney Liu and Zoey Liu each scored 33 points, earning them second place in the individual portion of the contest.
Two Dorseyville Middle School students earned high marks in the MMC, which they took in November 2024. Seventh grader Brian Xu earned recognition in the silver category, and eighth-grader Rishabh Krishnamurthy placed in the bronze category. These results have qualified them to attend the residential Mathworks Junior Summer Math Camp this summer.
Matvei Chesakov was named to Missouri State University’s fall 2024 dean’s list.
Olivia Roenker has been named to the University at Buffalo’s fall 2024 dean’s list.
Sean Ward made the president’s list at Southern New Hampshire University for the fall 2024 semester.
Jack Penland made the dean’s list at Shenandoah University for the fall 2024 semester.
Ellie Gaddess was named to the dean’s list at Bucknell University for the fall 2024 semester.
U.S. House Majority Chief Deputy Whip Guy Reschenthaler, R-Peters, announced 23 military academy nominations for the 14th Congressional District. Among them was Jackson Hill, a student at Shady Side Academy, for the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Shady Side Academy students Ozge Ada Uzman and Kiran Tevar were named to Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania’s 18 Under Eighteen. They will be honored at Acrisure Stadium on Feb. 4.
