Fox Chapel Area High School’s History Bowl team is headed to the National History Bowl in Arlington, Va., in April. The team qualified for the event by placing third in the varsity division during a competition in Beaver County in January. A team of Fox Chapel Area High School students has qualified for the National History Bowl in Arlington, Va., in April.

Seniors Elijah Conklin, Nathaniel Green, Arvind Seshan and Prajval Sreenivas, and junior Logan Dressman are members of the Fox Chapel Area High School History Club.

The team placed third in the 2023 Western Pennsylvania History Bowl tournament, making them semifinalists in the varsity division. As part of the competition, students answered questions about world and United States history.

The Western Pennsylvania History Bowl was held at Beaver County’s South Side Area High School on Jan. 21 in Hookstown. Eleven 11 teams from Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia competed. The contest was sponsored by International Academic Competitions IAC.

The Fox Chapel Area High School Student Government Community Outreach Committee is collecting items for the Second Avenue Commons shelter in Pittsburgh. The shelter helps those experiencing homelessness. Items being collected are new and gently used puzzles, games, new large slippers; new large Crocs and books — the shelter asks that the books center around a positive topic.

The drive will be held through Feb. 17. The public is encouraged to make donations by dropping them off in the Fox Chapel Area High School atrium at the main entrance Monday-Friday between 6:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

Fox Chapel Area High School is located at 611 Field Club Road in O’Hara Township.

Online ticket sales have begun for Fox Chapel Area High School spring musical, “Guys and Dolls,” which will be performed March 2-4 in the high school auditorium at 7 p.m., and March 5 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $13 each and all seats are reserved.

Tickets can be purchased through the website www.showtix4u.com/events/fcahsmusical. A convenience fee will be applied. Tickets will also be sold at the door pending availability.

Approximately 130 Fox Chapel Area High School students are involved in this year’s show, including the cast, crew, and live pit orchestra. The school is located at 611 Field Club Road in O’Hara Township.
