Fox Chapel-based Women's Board hosts annual fundraiser
The Women’s Board of Pittsburgh on May 1 celebrated its annual fundraiser, “All You Need is Love.”
Hosted at the Pittsburgh Field Club, the theme echoed the board’s long-standing commitment to show love for children and support their needs.
The group has brought in more than $1.6 million over three decades to donate to non-profits that facilitate the growth and development of area children.
This year’s beneficiaries are the Children’s Home of Pittsburgh and the Homeless Children’s Education Fund.
Money awarded to the Children’s Home of Pittsburgh will fund the Pediatric VIEW program, which offers pediatric cortical visual impairment diagnosis and free treatment for a condition not typically covered by health insurance.
Donations to the Homeless Children’s Education Fund will help pay for a mobile van, supplies and staff to provide tutoring to homeless children, meeting them wherever they may be.
“All You Need is Love” festivities included dinner and a fashion show with the latest styles from Carabella, along with an auction.
Founded in 1992, the Women’s Board has doled out previous grants to pay for science programs, weekend food packages, fitness sessions and birthday presents for homeless children.
Past recipients have included Hosanna House, Beverly’s Birthdays and the children’s programs of the Women’s Center and Shelter of the Greater Pittsburgh area, among others.
