After a two-month hiatus, the Harvest Fair at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church is back up and running.

The fleatique fundraiser remains by appointment only.

The popular shopping event was shut down in late-November for covid-19-related concerns when numbers began to creep up prior to the holidays.

“We finally have the go-ahead to open up, but only for the month of February,” volunteer Carol Huff said.

Shopping hours will be available Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Masks are required.

Items such as furniture, glassware, linens, sports equipment, décor and books are on display for shoppers.

The Harvest Fair is one of the church’s most significant fundraisers, bringing in more than $100,000 in most years for groups such as the St. Juan Diego food pantry, Hosanna Industries and East Liberty Family Health Center. Some of the proceeds are sent to missions across the globe.

Shoppers typically line up for a fall weekend event but this year the sale was expanded to last a few months since it was running by appointment to abide by social distancing guidelines.

The appointment-only shopping gives people time to walk slowly and carefully look over items, Huff said.

“Donations have been amazing and we have almost all of the things we normally sell, like furniture, household goods, books, jewelry, vintage treasures, linens, toys and Steelers/Pirates/Penguins items,” she said.

Prior to shutting the doors in November, organizers were enjoying a successful sale season, Huff said.

“We had so far raised close to $35,000 which will be distributed to local nonprofit organizations,” she said.

The church is at 384 Fox Chapel Road but items should be taken to the hall entrance off Springhouse Lane in the rear of the church.
