The Fox Chapel Area School District will close all schools Friday after officials learned that the parent of a high school student is ill and concerned about potential exposure to coronavirus.

While the student’s parent has not traveled to any areas known to have the virus, the district said it is closing buildings in a proactive effort to safeguard health.

On the afternoon of March 13, Governor Tom Wolf ordered all Pennsylvania schools to shut down for a minimum of 10 days.

Schools will be closed tentatively through April 13 according to an email sent to district parents. The students will begin online learning on March 17. According to the email, elementary school students will use Google Classroom and Clever for instruction and secondary students will use Schology and Clever.

The district’s complete plans can be found here.
