A nature-inspired luxury home featuring modern, new construction is on the market in Fox Chapel.

The eight-foot custom Douglas fir front door is the first sign of the craftsmanship in this contemporary home with an open floor plan, listed by Howard Hanna Realtor Molly Finley.

Finley noted that the property, built in 2023 on more than two acres, offers more than 100 windows with automated blinds.

“It’s so different — the style of it and the fact that it’s new construction in the borough — the two-story wall of windows inside really differentiates it,” Finley said. “There’s a lot of glass and a lot of natural light.”

Located at 409 Fox Chapel Road, the property is listed for $3 million.

The Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired design is the work of architect Aris Gorges, a former professor at The School of Architecture started by Frank Lloyd Wright.

The sellers reside in California but have ties in the Pittsburgh region.

“They ended up having to move out of state for work. They had custom-designed the home for their family, but moved before move-in — so it’s never-lived-in construction,” Finley said.

A custom wall mural in the entryway leads to soaring ceilings and kiln-dried, Western red cedar sourced from Washington state. Timber-framed post-beam construction features 360-degree glass views of the property and ample natural light.

The tile throughout comes from Spain.

“What’s special about the home is there’s an additional en suite at the lower level for anyone visiting and that offers a lot of privacy,” Finley said. “Everything is custom. I think someone who wants something different but wants to be in Fox Chapel would love this.”

Finley, who grew up in nearby O’Hara Township, said she wouldn’t be surprised to see a professional athlete or family buy the home.

The five-bedroom/five-bathroom home offers almost 6,000 square feet of living space with an 11-foot island in the kitchen and a floating staircase leading to the second floor.

There are four HVAC systems operating in zones. A 75-gallon hot water tank provides instant hot water anywhere in the home. All utilities are underground.

More than 200 recessed lights and European-style plumbing fixtures are in the bathrooms, with a 75” Koan freestanding soaking tub commanding a corner of the spacious master bathroom.
