Knox Walks For Fitness

Knox Walks for Fitness is a community walking group in Blawnox that promotes fun and fitness. The group meets for walks Mondays at 6 p.m., weather permitting.

Participants should meet at the Blawnox Community Park or can join the walk along the route. The group walks a 1.5-mile lap that ends back at the park. A second lap will take place if enough people are interested.

The weekly event is sponsored by The Best of Blawnox, LLC.

Women’s Business Network

Women’s Business Network is an award-winning business association that supports the success and growth of women in business. WBN provides members with the tools to be successful, including networking, mastermind groups, and ongoing professional education, while expanding their circle of influence in the marketplace. All professional women are welcome to attend as a guest at a meeting for no cost. Some meetings are being held virtually.

The Pittsburgh North Chapter meets on the first and third Fridays of each month at 9 a.m. at Eat N’ Park, Route 8 and Saxonburg Boulevard in Etna. For more information, contact Kathy Bell at 412-855-0578.

The Allegheny Valley Chapter meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 8 a.m. at Panera Bread at the Waterworks Mall, 942 Freeport Road, Pittsburgh. To RSVP or for more information, contact Susan Kinger at 412-782-4848.

The All Virtual Chapter holds regular meetings via Zoom on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Guests are welcome to attend at no cost. For more information, contact Jennifer Pasquale, at 412-908-1663.

Adopt-a-block program

The Best of Blawnox Organization introduces a new volunteer opportunity for community members.

Adopt-a-block is a volunteer program aimed at keeping the streets of Blawnox free from litter and debris. Volunteers will be assigned one or more designated neighborhood blocks to clean up regularly. The recommended commitment is a few times a month when it is convenient.
