In brief: News from Fox Chapel, Sharpsburg and more
The Community Library Association has an immediate need for Fox Chapel resident with legal expertise to fill an open board position.
The association is the governing board that oversees operations for Cooper-Siegel Community Library and its branch, the Sharpsburg Community Library.

Budget meeting set
Sharpsburg officials have scheduled a budget meeting for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at the borough building, 1611 Main St.
Kayak found
A kayak was found at the James Sharp Landing in Sharpsburg.
Borough officials believe it came over the Highland Park Dam because it was found in the river.
Anyone who lost a kayak should call the borough office at 412-781-0546.
Shoe collection
The Fox Chapel Garden Club is collecting used sneakers to put to good use via the Nike Reuse-a-Shoe Program.
Shoes can be donated to Second Harvest and The Free Store.

Celebration set
A celebration is planned for 7-10 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Lauri Ann West Community Center, 1220 Powers Run Road.
Celebrate 40 years since the former Boyd Elementary School was transformed into a thriving community library and community center serving the Fox Chapel Area.

Sealarks to meet
Sealarks Women’s Group will meet at 1 p.m. Oct. 11 at Memorial Park Church, 8800 Peebles Road, McCandless.
This group provides Christian fellowship and social activity for women alone. All women alone are welcome to attend and consider joining the group.
Elissa Scalesse Powell of North Hills Genealogists will present an introduction to genealogy.
