Indiana Township police celebrated this year’s fall festival at Emmerling Community Park with hayrides, pumpkin painting, face painting, temporary tattoos, balloon creations, music and more.

More than 250 people were estimated to have participated in the autumn event on Oct. 11.

A bounce house was the newest fall fest feature. It was packed from nearly the beginning to the end of the three-hour event.

Police Chief Marc Myers, who volunteered at the food pavilion, said 160 hot dogs were distributed. Free chips and water were also provided. Sweet Sips Cafe offered a variety of fall beverages.

Emily MacZura, 5, of Indiana Township, displayed her artistic talents alongside her aunt Jen MacZura.

Emily said she had fun painting stars, the names of relatives and other objects in multiple colors on her pumpkin.

Township firefighters had plastic helmets and coloring books for children, as well as vehicles to explore. There were volunteers from Dorseyville, Middle Road and Rural Ridge stations.

Other police departments that participated include Aspinwall, Harmar and Fox Chapel. West Deer EMS had an ambulance on site. ABC Transit provided a bus to shuttle people to the park from a nearby ball field.

Organizer Lt. Kirk Vandenbord said he was grateful for the good weather, impressed with the turnout and thanked the first responders for their support.
