Indiana Township Supervisors will consider an application for the expansion of a planned residential development near Hartwood Acres.

A public hearing regarding Hartwood Meadows will be at 6:30 p.m. July 14 in the township building, 3710 Saxonburg Blvd. Supervisors are expected to vote during their regular meeting immediately following.

Developers are requesting to build an additional 79 single-family homes at the existing Hartwood Meadows Plan which sits between Saxonburg Boulevard and Dorseyville Road, in walking distance of the Allegheny County-owned park.

According to the plan, the new homes would sit east of Saxonburg Boulevard, with road extensions coming from three streets in the current housing plan. Construction would be stretched over two phases, with 42 lots being developed in the first phase and 37 in the second.

The proposal is available for residents to review from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Anyone who wants to comment during the session can choose from three options to do so. Township Manager Dan Anderson said people can send comments to him via email or drop them off at the municipal building, participate remotely by phone or online, or attend the meeting while practicing social distancing.

Space will be limited, and guests will be asked to used hand sanitizer.
