Items are being collected for the Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh through Wednesday afternoon, June 15 at the O’Hara municipal building, 325 Fox Chapel Road.

O’Hara officials are collecting items for the Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh.

People can drop off items through 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 15 at the township office, 325 Fox Chapel Rd.

Items sought include deodorant, ChapStick, cleaning products, wipes, multicultural hair care products, dish soap, dish sponges, laundry detergent, diapers, baby wipes, baby powder, bottles and sippy cups, pacifiers, baby shampoo, bibs and snacks. Gift cards to Target, Walmart and other stores are also appreciated.

Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh was founded in 1974 and provides services for victims of domestic violence. It’s one of the first six centers for domestic violence to be established in the nation.

“We’re really grateful to O’Hara Township and to every group who donates items to WC&S,” said shelter President and CEO Nicole Molinaro. “Donating new, unused products helps to ensure that Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh can provide adult and child survivors of domestic abuse with the basic necessities they so often must leave behind. These contributions empower survivors to move forward with their lives safely and with confidence.”

Township Manager Julie Jakubec said the collection is part of a partnership with a local movie production, however, she could not disclose the production due to legal reasons.

Jakubec said township officials are happy to help the shelter.

Groups interested in hosting fundraisers like this can find out more via the shelter’s website, wcspittsburgh.org/community.
